UASF announces new educational support program Rise Up SF
Rise Up SF
Urban Angels SF, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is announcing a new program, "Rise Up SF: Bridging The Gap For At-Risk SF Youth" that is providing educational support for San Franciscan children from low-income and unhoused families.
One in 24 students in San Francisco are homeless. Students without a high school degree or GED are 450% more likely to experience homelessness in their lifetime.
The Rise Up SF campaign will address six critical areas: Tutoring (reading), Backpacks & School Supplies, Outings into Nature, Summer Camps, Parenting Classes, and Supporting Families with Essential Supplies. This holistic focus will nurture the physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being of the children.
The campaign kicks off in February 2024 with one-on-one tutoring in reading for 30 minutes every week for K-8 children in San Francisco.
Urban Angels SF's founder, Nelson Barry, emphasizes the importance of community support in making the "Rise Up SF" campaign a success. "With the community's help, we can provide essential services to children who are the most in need in our city to help them to succeed in school," Barry said.
Urban Angels SF invites concerned citizens, businesses and foundations to help raise it $15,000 by March 15th, 2024 by going to www.UrbanAngelsSF.org.
Volunteers are also needed as UASF continues to build out its Rise Up SF team.
