2025 - Breaking The Cycle of Poverty Through Education!

2025 is the year that Urban Angels SF, its volunteers, donors and supporters make a powerful and positive impact on the lives of hundreds of young students in SF from low income families!

Education has long been widely recognized as the most effective way to help children break the cycle of poverty into which they were born.

Whether a student is reading proficient by 5th grade is a CRITICAL factor in their young lives.

Children who do NOT reach reading level by 5th grade will most likely never catch up, are unlikely to graduate from high school, will have low paying jobs, are 450% more likely to experience homelessness, and risk involvement with the criminal justice system.

Alternatively, by reaching reading level by 5th grade, students perform better in all their subjects, behavior improves, absenteeism declines and they are very likely to graduate from high school. From there the sky is the limit!

None of the great work we did in our first 9 years would have happened without your support.  Now we are inviting you to be part of our most important mission ever; UASF’s education support program, Rise Up SF!

UASF is using its long-standing relationships with 27 shelters and temporary residences in SF to enroll the city’s most underserved students in high impact tutoring programs in reading and math. The cost of the tutors is already covered. UASF has committed to providing the electronics needed for each child to get started; a Chromebook ($100)  and a set of noise cancelling headphones with microphone ($10). For less than the cost of a night on the town, you can provide a year’s of tutoring that will change a child’s life forever!

In UASF’s 2nd decade, the goal of its Rise Up SF! program is to provide all 10,000 underserved children in our city with the reading and math skills they need to live productive and happy lives. We welcome and appreciate your continued support!

“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”
